STAND-UP, CANNABIS AND LAUGHTER

Stand-up stage made us laugh again. The traditional Cannabis night hosted comics from Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia that tried to convince us marijuana isn’t so bad and it can be useful and tasty.

First to perform was Aleksandar Perišić. His black humour made the audience roar with laughter. Aleksandar’s view on Cannabis: "The legalization of marijuana is not such a big problem because there are worse things that are legal. I also agree with the theory that the legalization would lower its illegal reputation. So, I support the legalization of marijuana and emphasising its positive effects.” He was followed by Srđan Jovanović that impressed the audience with his facial expressions, gestures, and unforgettable jokes. He explained he no longer has to pay gigantic aounts of money to travel to space. It can be done at home on your couch. The last comedian from Serbia was Jelena Radanović. She grew up with marijuana and only tried it once, when it was offered to her by her mother. After the show, she told us: "I believe that cannabis should be legalized and decriminalized. Marijuana is not nearly as dangerous as some people are trying to make it appear ... Stand-up can be used as rebelling and expressing what we feel. "

Dalibor Grbić Dapach from Croatia moved to the suburbs because he didn’t want to be disturbed while smoking marijuana. But he still has no time to himself. Therefore, he decided to create a stand-up performance about it and explain to people that marijuana isn’t dangerous at all. Next was Pedja Bajović from Croatia that portrayed a character that was high on marijuana. He talked about sex, relationships between men and women and differences between users of alcohol and users of marijuana. After the show, he said:  "Things are more than obvious, stand-up comedy supports freedom of speech and many other things. We have to talk about marijuana and cannabis, as well as legalization. Personally, I support the legalization of marijuana and legalization of all drugs in general. When drugs would be available on the legal market, it would come as a shock to the system. After that, al dealers and smugglers would lose their jobs. Also, illegal things are more appealing. People use drugs because they are illegal, so this makes matters worse. I think that educating and informing people about it would decrease drug use more that illegalization. On the other hand, marijuana cannot be compared to other drugs. It is a part of urban culture that is harmless.”

The last performer was Jonas Žnidaršič. He began with a remake of stand-up performance Modern Man by George Carlin and continued with segments of his latest performances My Country. His musical act impressed the audience although he was off-topic. Maybe that is his way of opposing to breaking down this taboo.

Again, stand-up was successful in breaking down taboos about cannabis and gave the audience something to think about. If not think, eat. The crowd was served with pizzas made of  “extremely dangerous” cannabis.
