Nick Hornby (1957), novelist, essayist and screenwriter, is a very successful British writer. He claims that he learned about life while socializing with other Arsenal fans at Highbury stadium in London. Some of his works have been also adapted for the big screen (High Fidelity, About a Boy). His works are always on the edge of popular culture. The short story Nipple Jesus is written with a lot of humour and a simple, yet juicy language.
When Dave (Peter), the narrator in the short story and ex-security guard in a discotheque, takes up the job of a guard in a gallery he finds himself in a totally unfamiliar world. Dave’s job is to guard the work of contemporary artist Martha (Marta) who created the image of Jesus out of thousands of nipples cut out of porn magazines.
