Divanhana presents sparkling new arrangements of urban traditional music from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular emphasis on the soulful sounds of sevdalinka, the musical vehicle for the expression of amorous longing and melancholy, passion and joy, with his roots in the days of the Ottoman Empire.
The band was founded at the beginning of 2009 by a group of young students from the Sarajevo Music Academy and their debut on the Bosnian and Herzegovinian music scene was in October that year. After the successful experience with their debut album, the band started working on Balkan traditional music.
In the beginning of September 2011, together with a young artist from Sarajevo, Leila Ćatić, Divanhana started preparing their new album. They keep on experimenting new arrangements and fusion of different music styles. They also realized collaborations with artists as Svetlana Spajić – Serbia, Sanel Redžić – Germany and Livio Minafra – Italy.
