Yesterday not even the ones swarming in front of the entrance to the Judgement tower did expect such an energetic, yet elegant concert evening. Even less if considering that the group has been playing for only a year and a half and has been attracting big crowds since. Momento Cigano is the only Slovenian group playing acoustic, jazzy gipsy swing. The guitarist and head of the group Teo Collori says, that their band emerged out of curiosity between friends and ex-classmates. While the original cast consists of four members, they brought three additional guests to Lent who occupied every inch of the packed stage in the crowded venue. “The old bunch is here today, we all know each other very well, so we connect immediately. We really threw a party, as you like to say here,” said Collori enthusiastically after the concert.
Besides the double bass, two guitars and saxophone, the stage was hosting the local legend Igor Bezget and his guitar and the deep voice of Metod Banko was entertaining and charming the audience in the medival tower. Also Marko Črnčec was invited to join them on stage and enrich the summer melodics with the indispensable sound of his accordion. “If you ask me how and what kind of cast I’d love to play with next time, it would definitely be this one,” the head of the group contemplated in advance. This was the band’s first time at Lent, but considering their incredible success it was probably not the last one. »There’s an unbelievable energy here. It’s very rare that everything – the sound, performance and audience - falls into place. People spent two hours with us – with no breaks!”
