RAIN IS NOT AN OBSTACLE

Rain didn’t affect the concert at Union hall, which hosted an opera night. The concert followed the traditional music heritage of Maribor from 1843. We had a chance to listen to the greatest European classics of Mozart, Handel, Verdi, Lörtzinga, Glinko, Gounod, Rossini, Purcell, Ponchiellia and Bizet. These giants were introduced by Jadranka Juras, mezzo-soprano, Thomas Stular, bass, and Tadej Horvat, piano.

Short but strong shower didn’t interrupt the visitors of Art Camp. The band Pliš encouraged the young and adult visitors to dance in the rain. Their performance was magical because of the charming voice of Aleksandra Iljevski. Standing ovations convinced the band to sing more songs and let them know the audience wants to hear them again.

A tremendous shower didn’t disturb the star of the evening, Macy Gray. Because of the rain, there were some problems with the speakers that apparently have a mind of their own, but that didn’t bother the audience or the performers, even though they both got wet. Besides her distinctive voice, Macy Gray also has a good sense of humour: "I do not know how to pronounce the name of your city. Maribor? It sounds so American. I heard that you like to drink a lot. This is good for us because the more you drink, the better we sound” said Macy and made the visitors laugh while the staff dealt with technical problems. The communication between Macy and the audience was great and the atmosphere was packed with positive energy. The audience didn’t want her to leave the stage, so she decided to sing her hit I try and gave an umbrella to a soaked visitor.
