The event Choral BOOM 2013, that will take place one day before the beginning of Lent, June 20, at 13.00 at Ljudski vrt stadium in Maribor, will include 5000 children from 16 schools in Slovenia singing together.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor (the honorary patron), and both former presidents Danilo Türk and Milan Kučan will be the guests of honor. The children will be welcomed rapper Zlatko.
The program includes Slovene folk and art songs, patriotic songs, pop songs and new music (S. Ivačič: Ljubezenke, lyrics by S. Kopinšek).
This year, 160 youth choirs from schools all over Slovenia will perform together. The choir will consist of 5000 children and 320 teachers and the children will be accompanied by the music of Big Band Orchestra of the Slovenian Armed Forces. The conductors will be elementary school music teachers (honorary conductor: Marinka Šuštar from the Primary school Ajdovščina for her life work in the area of school choirs) and the event will be hosted by Simona Kopinšek.
Last year, this event took place for the first time on the last day of school at the Leon Štukelj square in Maribor, and included 1400 children from 36 elementary schools from the regions of Maribor and Ptuj (articles, videos and photos available at http://www.zrss.si/default.asp?rub=7161).
